How to Properly Start a Car Starter
1. Generally, the interval between each start should be at least 3 seconds; each start-up attempt should not exceed 10 seconds. If the engine fails to start after three consecutive attempts, remove the key, wait for 1 minute, and then try starting again.
If it still won’t start, you can call for help.
Typically, when the car's fuel pump loses pressure or experiences internal wear, it can lead to insufficient gasoline pressure. As a result, the engine may fail to start on the first attempt but will eventually fire up after trying again.
2. If a car won’t start smoothly, there’s definitely a reason behind it. When you notice difficulty starting the engine, don’t rush to try again—first, identify the cause of the problem.
Typically, you should first check the oil level, coolant, battery, and fuel quantity. If the engine is difficult to start, it could be due to low oil, excessively low temperatures, carbon buildup, or insufficient battery power. Based on your inspection results, make an initial assessment—though if the issue seems minor, you can try starting the engine again.
3. Other points to note:
1) It's best not to start the car for more than 5 seconds each time, and if the first attempt fails, don’t rush to keep restarting it repeatedly.
2) Since repeatedly attempting to start the car can lead to battery damage due to excessive discharge and shorten the lifespan of the starter motor, allow a 15-30 second interval before attempting to restart.
3) Note that once the car is started, avoid further turning, as this could damage the starter motor gears.
